Bridger Kitchen Diary – A closer look at the Classic Shaker in Bishop’s Stortford
Presenting this beautiful two-tone Classic Shaker kitchen that’s set in the idyllic countryside of Bishop’s Stortford. As you scroll on down you will see such a wonderful mix of materials and colours which just work perfectly together to create a kitchen with absolute charm.
We couldn’t wait to photograph this most stunning fairytale home. Every corner of this room and more are worthy of a beautiful photograph.
Set in a Grade II listed property, lovely visual features complete this style of kitchen with the Classic Shaker being the perfect kitchen style to choose, and a two-tone colour scheme allowing the different coloured materials to blend in an attractive manner.
From the handcrafted Classic Shaker, made by Nicholas Bridger, to the huge Wolf built-in oven, individually sourced furniture and furnishings, this spacious historic home abounds character, luxury and the personal touch all to match the personality of this lovely couple.
Exposed wooden beams fill the space with the most delicate of features that can be incorporated into any design scheme and large Victorian windows bathe the room with as much natural light as possible.
One of the special features we handcrafted in this beautiful hub of the home was our first home bar. This handmade bar oozes style, functionality and the perfect area to entertain with delicious drinks.
Right opposite this sits the ultimate island that the drinks can flow to where the guests will be sitting. Cheese and fresh-baked bread await them with a few grapes to finish off the wonderful evening.
Maintaining the mix of old and new the galley layout allows for the period features to come to life and sit proudly in this well-lit space.
Colours such as Dove Tale and Brinjal from Farrow & Ball fill the room with a starting point for a conversation and create a soft and inviting feel to the hub of the home.
Soft delicate furnishings hand picked by our client boast a luxurious feel to the grand space. The subtle sparkle from the blinds and cushions are hit by the large delicate chandeliers suspended above the island, with the pale violet making it’s way through the comfy seating.
This impressive kitchen was kitted out with the most stunning appliances from an industry-leading company ‘Sub-Zero Wolf’. Sub-Zero Wolf appliances are meticulously crafted and expertly engineered, bringing a professional quality to the home.
We can and Sub-Zero Wolf can guarantee delicious results delivered every time from these appliances and we were thrilled to install numerous award-winning robust appliances to this two-part kitchen in Bishop’s Stortford.
Let’s take a look at the appliances in small detail, but if you read our blog on Sub-Zero Wolf appliances in our project in Bishop’s Stortford you will certainly find more information on these robust appliances, and what our client opted for.
The main run was equipped with the Wolf M-series Professional built-in oven, the Wolf M-series Convection Steam Oven, the Wolf Warming Drawer, and the Wolf 914mm Transitional Induction Hob.
The kitchen island is the home for the Wolf Undercounter Wine Storage. This is the perfect addition to the bar area and has qualities that make it more than just a wine chiller. It sits directly opposite the handmade bar and sits flush with adjacent cabinetry with a pro-style handle.
We designed a bespoke pull out full height drawer just to the right of it that takes care of storing the mixers ready to serve into that spirit from the handmade bar, and serve on the solid oak engraved serving tray that is a true classic.
To complete the cooking station and experience our client opted for the Wolf 914mm Transitional Induction Hob. This hob offers five highly efficient, low energy induction elements with a bridging feature for oversized pans, and you can sear, sauté and simmer with complete confidence.
A subtle patterned antique mirrored splashback sits behind that flows with the Bianca Eclipsia Quartzite blending the whole kitchen together with a timeless and elegant appeal.
On top of the hob that is quite frankly a masterpiece is a Westin Extractor. Westin is the cooker hood specialists. They are a well-established British manufacturer and are built to perform the job of removing steam, smoke and unwanted smells from the cooking environment.
Nicholas Bridger built the classic shaker furniture around this stainless steel construction flowing the intricate beading around this quiet and efficient appliance.
We then follow on through to the second part of the kitchen. Two parts?? Yes, that is correct! This is where that monster of a fridge lies and a double galley with possibly the best kitchen storage you could think of.
A Sub-Zero Fridge Freezer in over a metre width sits proudly one side amongst the classic shaker furniture storing all the essentials as well as a few naughty treats. On the opposite side a perfect retreat has been built purposely for our client’s loving family pet. We incorporated the dog bed area underneath the kitchen units with purposely built drawers to store food, treats, grooming accessories and waste bags.
The ideal place for a sink… underneath the window.
This area is made up of an impressive and beautiful sink, an Ionian deck mounted tap in polished chrome and a boiling water tap with rinse and hand wash station, all from the trusted Perrin & Rowe brand name. We have even added an Insinkerator® food waste disposal unit. This makes for the ideal prepping and washing area.
And finally… here it is… a full on shot of the amazing professional Sub-Zero Fridge Freezer.
This award-winning refrigeration system is based with NASA technology to remove ethylene, mould bacteria and odours every 20 minutes. The Dual Refrigeration allows for the fresh food to stay fresher for longer with moist air on one side, and dry air on the other preventing frost and freezer burn.
