  3. Bridger Kitchen Diary – A closer look at the Classic Shaker in High Wych

We invite you to look in closer detail at the recent project we completed in High Wych. A charming and delightful hub of the home featuring our Classic Shaker style with a beaded front frame and recessed panels on the doors and drawers, with a recessed plinth to finish off the prestige classic look.

Say hello to the warm and inviting Classic Shaker…

…that provides a sense of well-being and a luxury open-plan space situated in the centre of a village in East Hertfordshire.

The space boasts a large open-plan space with the kitchen at one end of the room and the dining table at the other. The room could allow for a bigger kitchen with more furniture, but our client was happy with the proposed storage options and placement of appliances. A neat L-shaped kitchen was created with an island in the middle acting as the divider, and a two-tone colour scheme matching in with today’s kitchen trends.

We hand-painted the main kitchen in Blackened by Farrow & Ball. Blackened is a cool white with the slightest hint of grey. This colour, in particular, has been made with the history behind it and the addition of lamp black pigment gathered from the smoke of burning oil lamps. It sits perfectly within Farrow & Ball’s colour chart providing a hue for both minimal looks and stronger industrial feels and has been the perfect choice for this kitchen.

The solid wood island and back wall have been hand-painted in Hague Blue by Farrow & Ball. Hague Blue is a deep dark blue and takes its name from the fantastically coloured woodwork much used by the Dutch. The green undertones of this timeless, deep and dramatic blue means it sits as happily outside as it does in small dark rooms. This colour makes the island act as the ideal statement matching with the backdrop to suit the soft industrial style.

On top of the island sits a Smeg induction hob where the cooking can commence admiring those breathtaking views. The chef can whip up the most delicious meal with the perfect extraction eliminating those unwanted smells in the kitchen area. It rises above the worktops for an extra special style and a unique way of cooking.

Stunning classy Carrara style quartz in 30mm thickness completes the look, making the space functional allowing for easy cleaning and a beautiful appearance throughout. We love a marble-look and the veins will certainly show through the darker colour. The surface is also non-porous which is great for preventing staining but also safer for smaller children as bacteria cannot build up and harm those little ones.

As you take a look through this impressive kitchen you will notice there are no visible hinges. Our client opted for soft-close invisible hinges for their in-frame kitchen, to create a subtle and softer approach to the main room of this property. In their own words… “We created their dream kitchen”.

A gorgeous view of the sink and tap combination which are perfectly suited to the space, enhancing the luxury finish of the highest quality, and positioned centrally to the window. A ceramic double bowl by Caple sits underneath the window met with a Perrin & Rowe polished chrome deck mounted with lever handles, a separate pull-out rinse and Parthian boiling water tap.

The polished chrome finish fits within the modern aesthetics of this hub of the home and provides a long-lasting kitchen design that will be loved for many years to come.

The handles and knobs are also Perrin & Rowe in polished chrome.

We are in awe of the spotty Emma Bridgewater china.

Triple glazed sliding doors fill the outside wall allowing you to step out into the half an acre of land, perfect for all the family. Miles and miles of greenery can be seen making this an ideal place for the kitchen, and a lovely place to do the tasks. The chores don’t seem so boring now!

We love this novelty idea! Our client opted for racks to be inserted into the full-height pull-out drawer. A great place to take advantage of storing away those oven gloves and other items such as tea towels and hand towels, when you don’t want them on display or taking up room in a drawer. There’s also room below to fit the trays.

An easily organised recycling system designed into the corner of the L-shape, a clever kitchen idea. There’s a section for general waste and the other part is for plastic, cardboard etc making it easy to take outside and divide into the recycling bins in your area.

Another finishing touch to this bespoke kitchen is this pull-out drawer that stores the oils and vinegar. When finished with it neatly slides back into the island for a flush finish, but also keeping them within easy reach.

In the corner of this multi-functional kitchen lies a clever pull-out shelf which ensures there is no wasted space. It houses all of our client’s kitchen essentials in a neat and organised way.

Let us finish your tour with a panoramic view of the whole space… a great entertaining space that can be opened up to bring the outside in.
