Bridger Kitchen Diary – A closer look at the Classic Shaker in Hutton

We love this Classic Shaker we designed and built for a wonderful family in Hutton. It was designed with an industrial style in mind with award-winning appliances from no other than Sub-Zero Wolf. We completed this open-plan space a little while back but wanted to share it in more detail with you.

We welcome you to say hello to this beautiful in-frame Classic Shaker kitchen…

… consisting of an exposed brick wall backdrop to give warmth and a spacious look in Hutton an area of Brentwood, Essex.

The galley layout we designed in this hub of the home consists of a single run and a symmetrical design around the sink area with one end being the cooking area and the other the cold storage.

A very large island sits in the centre, a 3 metre one at that! With a large seating area which is of a sawn oak finish. It’s at a low-level height so perfect for the children to do their homework and enjoy a freshly fried cooked breakfast cooked straight in front of their eyes! Not only is there the seating area attached to the island, but there is hidden storage underneath too with doors.

We also added a plug socket on the end of the island for kitchen appliances like a mixer or smoothie maker.

The painted cabinets are coloured with Basalt 221 by Little Greene. Basalt is a timeless blue-black with a deep and mysterious background creating lots of drama and character to the kitchen space.

The quartz worktops known as Bianco Foresta are made up of a natural appearance with a multitude of colours and patterns working very well within the industrial style of this kitchen. The large central island was made up by mega jumbo slabs, and drainer grooves were added to both sides of the sink.

The light tiled flooring was chosen to bring a light hue to the overall kitchen and make the space appear bigger than it already is.

The knobs are handles are a polished chrome finish from Perrin & Rowe.

First, we come to the Professional Double Oven by Wolf. This is from the E Series range and is ideal for many kitchen styles and accessible for more cooks due to the performance it gives. It has a width of 762mm and coordinates beautifully with similarly-styled Wolf microwaves and warming drawers.

This American fridge freezer was what our customer already had. We built the classic shaker furniture around the appliance and integrated it into the kitchen cabinets. The stainless steel finish amongst the appliances are perfect for the industrial style.

The hob area is made up with the Wolf 914mm Transitional Induction Cooktop and the Wolf 914mm Downdraft Extractor to match. A sleek design and a great way to sear, sauté and simmer with complete confidence.

The classic stainless steel trim coordinates perfectly with the other appliances in this kitchen and creates a multi-zone cooking area that is perfect for any cook.

The downdraft has an amazing function where when it isn’t in use, it can be closed and hidden from view.

On the main kitchen run a Shaws double butler ceramic sink is met with Perrin & Rowe polished chrome taps. The taps include a Parthian mini instant hot water tap and an Ionian deck mounted tap with lever handles and rinse. We also installed an Insinkerator that is controlled with the chrome button next to the rinser.

Walk right this way to the pantry of dreams…

Everyone adores and dreams of a walk-in pantry. They are a great kitchen design idea (if you have the room). The Bianco Foresta worktops were also carried through to this room to make the design flow and offer more work surfaces to prepare the perfect meal.

It is instantly accessible from the kitchen to the right of the fridge/freezer, where the microwave and toaster are hidden in there out of view of the main kitchen.

We added two rows of open shelves perfect for all of our client’s kitchen essentials and easy to see, and a truly bespoke wine rack completing the entertaining aspects of the whole kitchen together.
