Kitchen Trends for 2020
2020 is a new year and a new decade, with several new kitchen styles and designs poking through. There were many new design trends in the year 2019 and some of these are continuing to breakthrough to the new year.
In this blog, we talk you through some kitchen trends that we think will be seen in the year 2020. Are you ready…?
Trendy Storage Solutions
2019 saw an army of Mrs Hinch followers organising their kitchen cupboards in a neat and tidy fashionable manner, storage containers purchased and sticky labels to label everything up, with a spot of cleaning along the way. It was also the year of streamlining the storage and hiding away those bulbous gadgets.
The year 2020 will include the following storage solutions, walk-in larders, breakfast pantries, floor-to-ceiling cabinetry and banquettes with lift-up tops.
Towards the near end of last year, simple pantries were becoming a thing of the past with people looking to truly make it their own bespoke cupboard. Favourite cooking ingredients and other food items were being scrapped and the pantries were being turned into hideaways for appliances and glassware.
Because our kitchens are truly bespoke, this allows you to use the pantry in a number of ways effectively. Our client below in the Bobbingworth project had the kitchen cabinets built into the walls, as this is a Grade II listed property so we couldn’t touch any of the existing features. This particular pantry has been used to store the microwave, food mixer and other essentials to serve the perfect dinner.
Classic White
White is a timeless classic look that is making a comeback in 2020. This colour has never been outdated but has taken a backseat by popular greys. White is soft in colour with a fresh and clean feel and looks great when lightening up a dark room or filling your summer extension with that little bit more.
The colour white is very versatile allowing you to accessorise with bold accents elsewhere in the room. A strong and warm floor, statement handles and pops of metallics will make a white kitchen stand out from the rest.
The Matching Tye project below features within a historic property from the 1800s. The wood tones from the exposed beams and the warm floor have been stripped back to their original standards to create a true traditional kitchen in the heart of this Essex village.
A beautiful big and bold AGA sits in the middle in a crisp white finish with a Mauviel Tea Kettle in a copper finish for even, quick heat distribution, this kettle boils water quickly and efficiently. Our client also opted for the copper-plated Kitchen Aid Mixer. View project

Luxurious Worktops & Splashbacks
When choosing the kitchen worktops there are many materials to choose from.
At Nicholas Bridger, we supply the finest Quartz and Granite Worktops on the market, and you have a choice of which manufacturer to use within your handmade hub of the home.
Quartz is one of the best materials for a kitchen worktop and here at Nicholas Bridger, we believe in this. From its style, performance and cost, quartz worktops deliver a premium look and feel but offer durable, low maintenance and long-lasting properties.
The engineered stone is made up of approximately 93% natural quartz mineral, with the remaining 7% made up of fragments, pigments and resins to give the slab its overall strength and consistent design.
Bianca Eclipsia Quartzite was chosen for the kitchen in Bishop’s Stortford with a mirrored antique splashback providing the space with a luxurious traditional feel, this combination certainly adds lots of interest to the new kitchen. View project

With neutral design schemes of whites and creams making a comeback, unique floors and statement tiles are proving to be popular in the home. There are many different styles on the market today, with a floor covering available for any kitchen style and use. It’s all about clashing colours and prints, so enjoy experimenting with colour, who wouldn’t want a unique kitchen?
We love the choice of tile in the kitchen renovation below, an antique style with a solid black border to fit around the L-shaped layout and kitchen island perfectly. This space was filled with our classic shaker style hand-painted in a two-tone colour scheme, suited perfectly for the traditional home. View project
