A mirrored splashback is a sought after finishing product in a bespoke handmade kitchen, but an antique effect one is that little bit more special. Ideal for both smaller and expansive spaces, this type of splashback creates an impressive feature when incorporated behind cooking runs and handmade units such as dressers and bars. It even gives the illusion of the room being bigger than it actually is.

Using an antique effect mirror as a splashback provides you with a clever way of bouncing the light across the room which is particularly handy in smaller darker spaces and also gives the cook an idea of what is happening behind them. This is perfect if you are cooking and the children are sat at the island or dining table completing homework before dinner.

This type of splashback design disguises any splashes during cooking due to the mottle antique effect, making it a low maintenance option in the long-term.

Glass mirrored splashback are specially toughened to withstand heat and gives any kitchen an understated ‘wow’ factor preventing the chimney area becoming a dark recess of the room.

In this blog, we look at our Bishop’s Stortford project who incorporated a mottled antique effect splashback to their cooking area and handmade bar within their kitchen design.

Just a small mirrored space used but perfectly formed into this luxury period home. This particular project has not only one kitchen but two (the main kitchen area with a central island and Wolf cooking appliances, and a prep kitchen with a Sub-Zero refrigeration system). This impressive space has been designed for both family life and entertaining. Guest can perch at the island with a glass of bubbly whilst the cook chats to them through the splashback whilst preparing dinner at the Wolf Induction Hob.

As it’s one large piece of mirror, it’s really easy to clean. Just use a regular glass cleaner and you have yourself a fresh, clean looking glass splashback – perfect for busy, messy family life.

Our first ever handmade bar was created in this hub of the home using our classic shaker style. When our client came to us with their idea of a bar we jumped at the chance and couldn’t wait to get started on this new exciting trend. Many people are now staying in and entertaining from their homes, so this unique handmade feature is the perfect addition to any home.

It comes complete with glass-fronted cabinets, glass shelves and the mottled antique splashback behind. Bespoke kitchen cabinets sit below to store other glassware and spirits for the perfect cocktail.

A mirrored glass splashback is made from toughened glass and has a clean and fresh look that really catches the eye. If you would like to know more about this stunning kitchen design idea, contact us today – we look forward to hearing from you.
