  3. Summer Kitchens – Create the perfect space for Summer

With the summer looking to be a hot one, creating a handmade kitchen with Nicholas Bridger will be perfect for all seasons especially those longer days and warmer evenings.

Everyone knows that the best gatherings with family and friends begin and end in the kitchen, so create a space that is sociable and welcoming to all those who enter.

Like our bespoke kitchen project in Woodford Green below. Our client built a large extension on the back of their property with many windows that will be perfect for the summer months. There is a lovely little story behind this kitchen renovation…

Originally the kitchen cabinets were built in 2016 where the property’s previous owner had it located more centrally in the home. The new owners of the property loved how sturdy and beautiful the kitchen was and contacted us to adjust the kitchen to the new layout, repaint in a dark alluring hue, and fit new worktops, sink and tap.

Large sliding doors transform the kitchen space, where dinner parties can move outside into the garden creating the most beautiful summer kitchen.

Us Brits are really looking forward to a long-awaited summer, with those much-awaited summer dinner parties in our home. One place that is perfect to socialise, catch-up over a glass of bubbly and entertain whilst we are cooking is the kitchen island.

The kitchen island has become a firm favourite in many kitchen designs with its useful and multi-functional features. Especially in open-plan spaces, the island acts as a divider between the different zones. It is a perfect central unit that brings everything in the kitchen together, and provides extra prep space and lots of storage possibilities.

Our client below in the Hadley Wood project loves entertaining, and wanted Nicholas Bridger to build a traditional style kitchen that would fulfill a perfect entertaining space that could move beautifully outside into the garden in the summer months.

Views are an important element if your kitchen overlooks your garden, or has a great view of the surrounding areas.

In our Potters Bar project below traditional windows bathe the kitchen with lots of natural light and views of the garden and beyond. This open-plan space creates an indoor-outdoor living space where dinner parties can transition smoothly between the two, with all the essentials to hand.

Below is another great example of how our kitchens can move from inside to the outdoors without any hassel. Our project in Potters Bar consists of large bi-fold doors that merge the kitchen and garden beautifully. There is an integrated wine cooler to the right of the kitchen that is an outstanding appliance for dinner parties. Designing the wine fridge to the right of the kitchen allows guests to help themselves to drinks without getting in the way of the main cooking area.

The layout in a kitchen is another important factor when considering on designing the perfect summer kitchen. The ‘kitchen triangle’ layout makes a kitchen easy to move around in with the three main points close to each other. The ‘kitchen triangle’ is made up of the three main areas, sink, fridge and hob that all connect with eachother to create a triangle.

Our project below in Hutton is a great example of a ‘working triangle’ within a kitchen space. This very large open-plan space flows beautifully through to the garden, where summer entertaining can begin. The space has been cleverly designed to enable our client to move smoothly around when their guests are present, allowing everyone to relax and mingle while cooking for their perfect summer party. The Wolf Transitional Induction hob and the Wolf Downdraft extractor are placed onto the island for our client to socialise with family and friends when the food is being prepared.
