From the breadbasket of Italy, Emilia-Romagna is where the company Bertazzoni got their inspiration to create such an incredible appliance. For more than 100 years, Bertazzoni cooking appliances have helped people bring the best of home-cooked food to the family table.

Their inspiration comes from other world-famous cities like Turin, Bologna and Milan, where they make iconic cars and motorbikes as well as agricultural construction and machinery. Bertazzoni brings together that unique Italian flair just like the other cities for engineering and design to create products that not only function perfectly but are beautifully stylish and elegant.

Back in the 19th century, Francesco Bertazzoni made precision weighing machines for the local cheesemakers in Emilia-Romagna, Northern Italy. He often observed trains arriving in Guastalla, Italy from Germany, and one day noticed they were heated by a new type of wood-burning stove – used to cook for the train crew as well as heating the carriages. This innovation appealed to his love of food, family and engineering and that is where the company Bertazzoni is today. His approach has been passed down through six generations and remains at the heart of what they do today.

With the roots coming from the enjoyment of food, this Italian company knows exactly where its heart and soul lie. The products look stylish, elegant and fit within a traditional or contemporary home. Bertazzoni has always been a leader in production techniques, applying the most modern methods in its factories throughout the company’s evolution.

The Bertazzoni 90 cm 6-burner Electric Double Oven in stainless steel was specified by the client to fit within our handmade furniture in their townhouse kitchen in Balham. This double-oven range cooker gives great versatility and style to any kitchen. The main electric oven has 11 functions, from convection, baking and grilling to warming. There is also a digital programmer that allows perfect control of cooking, displaying the oven functions selected, managing the time during cooking and the temperature.

The glass is made with a triple-layer minimising heat loss. The hob features six versatile gas burners in brass including a dual-ring power burner giving anything from a delicate low simmer to full power.

We incorporated open-shelving into the design to home the kitchen essentials like oils, vinegar and salt and pepper to taste.

A state-of-the-art Bertazzoni cooker hood was also specified by our client to match with the tasteful range cooker and the industrial style of the kitchen.

The kitchen cabinets are hand-painted in a dark, sultry hue known as Off-Black by Farrow & Ball. It is a much more flattering colour to other blacks in the palette because it feels so much milder in tone and has none of the underlying cool blue hues.

The style of cabinetry is our Classic Shaker, which is a popular style for many of our clients and the added touch of the industrial style makes way for a functional and stylish space that combines the look of a professional kitchen with quirky, factory-inspired touches.
