Traditional Shaker Kitchen 36 – Chelmsford, Essex

Exquisite design and detail throughout this Traditional Shaker style kitchen, located in Chelmsford, Essex. The raised and fielded panels on the doors, drawers and end-panels are beautifully hand-finished and give the kitchen a stately and expressive appearance.

The L-shaped layout is within a large open-plan space at the rear of the property and incorporates the kitchen itself with seated dining on the round aspect of the island and informal seating at the other end of the room.

Hand-painted

Our tried and tested, brushed-on technique of hand-painting our kitchens was used with quality paints, for the ultimate in style and a long-lasting finish which can be easily repaired or changed in the future.

We hand-painted the island and drinks bar/dresser in Charleston Gray and the main kitchen in Elephant’s Breath, both paints are by Farrow & Ball.

Sub-Zero & Wolf Appliances

Our clients, both keen chefs, were quick to tell us about their desire for outstanding cooking appliances. The Wolf M-Series ovens chosen, are highly versatile and present coherently as a pair, with a modular view to the appliances above – coordinated steam and microwave ovens, and the stylish warming draws below.

Our clients had first seen the Wolf induction hob and downdraft extractor selected in one of our demonstration videos, however, they were subsequently seduced by a further 2 Sub-Zero under-counter wine coolers upon an enchanted encounter at our Bridgers Barn showroom.

Kitchen Features

We have a number of original Handmade Kitchen Co. features incorporated into the design, including a bespoke dog bed, pedestal table, banquette window seat and a drinks bar/dresser with curved glass doors.

Handmade Bar / Dresser

Here is the handmade drinks bar/dresser, mentioned earlier.

It features stunning bespoke curved glass doors as well as glass shelves and a glass mirror splash-back.

Utility Room

Hidden from the main view of the kitchen is this stunning utility room, which is packed full of useful and space saving features such as the stacked washing machine and dryer and the pull down wooden airer.

Perrin & Rowe butler sink and taps are also present.

What Is Shaker Design?

Shaker furniture is a distinctive style of furniture developed by the United Society of Believers in Christ’s Second Appearing, commonly known as Shakers, a religious sect that had guiding principles of simplicity, utility and honesty.
